- Volunteer needed to represent Rochester RPCVs on planning committee for The Rochester Summit on Citizen Diplomacy.
The Rochester International Council (RIC) and other local organizations will host The Rochester Summit on Citizen Diplomacy, April 28, 2006.
RIC is a local non-profit organization that provides services to international services and international visitors. The Summit is a call to action to think globally and act locally. There is an urgent need to better understand people from diverse cultures and faiths and to convey an authentic portrayal of Americans in this increasingly interdependent world. This is a mission that is very familiar to RPCVs, and very consistent with the goals of the Peace Corps.
The RIC would like a member of the Rochester RPCVs to serve on a planning committee for the Summit. If you are interested, please contact Glenn Cerosaletti
- Panelists needed to discuss their Peace Corps experience at SUNY Brockport - March 23rd
Amy Guptill, who teachs sociology at SUNY Brockport , would like to having a panel presentation about Peace Corps on Thursday, March 23rd for two of her classes on Development and Globalization. Caroline Handschuh - the Peace Corps recruiter from the New York office, will also participate.
The classes meet from 1:15 - 2:45 and 3 - 4:30, but in order to shorten the panelists time commitment, they will speak at the end of the first period and the beginning of the second, that is from 2 pm - 3:45 pm.
Amy will moderate the panel and will ask the panelists to speak for 10 minutes on how they decided to enter Peace Corps, where they served, what they did, and what service has meant for their lives subsequent to service, and then field questions from the students.
Rochester RPCVs has provided speakers for RIT, the UofR and FLCC. This is our first opportunity to make a presentation to the students of Brockport. I hope you will be able to volunteer to participate. Please contact Marian Beil.
